Experience Famous Dutch Landmarks in Madurodam, a Miniature Park Attraction

We were driving from Amsterdam to Rotterdam and decided to detour and visit Madurodam before heading into the city (about 25 minutes away). Madurodam is described as a miniature park attraction with model replicas of famous Dutch buildings and cities including windmills, trains, planes, churches, museums, and more!

I really wanted to go because although we weren’t visiting other Dutch cities, this was a chance to see other parts of the country, all in one place. Most of the spaces were outside with a couple of indoor activities. I felt like a giant because I was taller than most buildings (side note: I’m really short).

Something I learned was that this attraction exists because the parents of a fallen soldier decided to build it to bring joy to everyone since their son wasn’t able to live a full life – in a way, to keep his story and memory alive.

We spent 1-2 hours wandering around admiring the amount of detail in each piece. There was music and the figurines moved in this stadium one below.

Happy Wandering!
